We designed the logo, business cards and website for Big Shiny Windows. They are located in Deep River, Ontario and their customers consist of residences, retirement residences, apartment buildings, office buildings, government buildings, retails stores and more commercial clients.

Their logo needed to be modernized and vectorized to be used throughout their promotional materials. The website features a photo gallery, an online estimate form and testimonials from some of their current clients.

Kaizen Reef name: Lenny
Common name: Bicolor blenny
Scientific name: Ecsenius bicolor

Physical description: Interesting fact about these fish is that they camouflage and change their colours at will. Relaxed colouration is purple front and orange (or yellow) back end down to the tail. Ours sleeps in a hole under the anemone and changes to match her colouration. When he is in algae he will give himself white spots or lines.

Diet: Everything. Tank algae on equipment, glass, rocks. Meaty foods like mysis, brine shrimp and krill.

1/17/10: Returned to fish store (the lawnmower blenny got sick and the bicolor blenny would not leave him alone, unfortunately we have no quarantine tank at this time so Lenny had to be returned)

Personal notes: Lenny is an amazing fish. He is very peaceful, eats everything, swims around, doesn’t hide in the rocks (his head is always sticking out), perches all over the place, camouflages and has excellent vision. Update: Very sad to have to return Lenny as he was an excellent, healthy fish. Would recommend this fish to every saltwater reef tank.

Common name: Green clown goby
Scientific name: Gobiodon atrangulatus

Physical description: small, green with purple spotted lines and purple stripes

Diet: So far he is only eating off the rocks, waiting for him to become interested in the frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and krill

11/14/09: Added to the tank

Personal notes: He likes to perch in the rocks. We have not seen him eat the main fish food yet but he looks healthy so we are assuming he is eating the live creatures off the rocks.

Common name: Black turbo snails, zebra turbo snails
Scientific name: Turbo fluctuosa

Physical description: Top shaped shell, black with yellow stripes.

Diet: algae

Important dates:
11/14/09: 11 added to the tank
12/17/09: 2 snails died and removed from tank
1/24/10: Another dead snail removed
2/4/10: Another dead snail removed

Personal notes: We were having a major algae problem so the LFS recommended we add 30 of these to our tank. We decided to go with 10 and ended up with 11 of them. They do a wonderful job cleaning the tank glass and rocks and move quickly and efficiently. We are finally winning our war on algae with a big thanks to these Turbo Snails.
